Discern
A young person Barb knew, was involved in a terrible accident and had to go to the spinal trauma ward at Vancouver General Hospital. Though mostly crippled herself, at the time, with a major arthritic flare up, Barb went to the hospital in Vancouver to assist this very injured young man as he went through the first several days of his recovery.
In this picture, the young man wanted to move but didn’t believe that he could. Barb bent over and told him: “I discern your strength”. Then, the two of them helped him to move.
If you know Vancouver, you will be able to see the mountains of Vancouver’s skyline as seen from Vancouver General Hospital.

In this picture, the young man, who had not moved since his injury, wanted to move but didn’t believe that he could. Barb, being almost paralysed with pain herself, could not help him. But, when she was a young woman, she had been a nurses aid and knew how to help a patient move with leverage and the patients help.
She bent over and told him: “I discern your strength”. Then, the two of them helped him to move.
Written on the back is:
This was my joy to be helpful.
