Barb is crazy about palm trees. She loves them. We do have some palm trees here in Victoria but it is not hot here and she does not rave about them. I think what she really likes palm trees + heat. Anyway, she painted some palm trees for her friend in Vancouver which turned out really well and she decided to try doing the same scene in her black lines style.

Her daughter’s job took her to Saltspring Island for several days a week for over a month. She asked Barb if she wanted to join her on the island to keep her company and to share the adventure. Barb agreed and the two of them had a lot of fun being together, exploring and sightseeing. And thrift store shopping but that is another story.

Barb had about 8 hours a day free while her daughter was at work. So she brought her paints over and started working on the painting. She did not realize just how much work that doing the picture in her black lines style would be. She ended up bringing it back with her from Saltspring and continuing to work on it for a couple of weeks after she got back.

Unfortunately, after all of that work, the canvas was accidentally damaged beyond repair. Thankfully, we are able to scan it so the work is saved.
