Stirring the Pot

$ 150.00 - $ 600.00

In this painting, Barb decided to let whimsy be her guide. The postcards and pictures on the wall and image on the wall – is it a window or a painting? – are all little pictures in their own right. In one of them is the logo for her friends restaurant. Another is one of her favourite things – palm trees. In another, is a precursor to the next painting in the series: “Pineapple Fields” Often, the first question people ask is “Is that Becky? (the owner of the restaurant). The answer is “No”. But it could be. This is one of the reasons why Barb prefers to leave out the faces. Everyone has to eat—this man could be almost any young Jamaican man. If Barb had put in a face then it would be this young man and not that young man. Barb had a lot of fun with this painting. She hopes people will pick up on this and feel joy and happiness when they see it.

This is part of the Jamaican restaurant series. Barb has a friend, Becky, who owns the local Jamaican restaurant . He moved to a new location. When she saw that his new walls were bare, she decided to decorate! Barb is usually a serious painter. With this series, she decided to take a much lighter hearted approach and to paint with abandon.
